Lately a few of my friends & have been receiving several phone calls on our landlines each day from 000-000-000. When u anser the phone it's just dead air sound. Are these calls made from a computer, or something else?

don't worry about it! its usually calls made from computer....like SIP pr VoIP calls....I call my home number sometimes to test my numbers....and I call from a SIP line(like Skype) or Voip....

That is one of the generic trunk numbers from a VOIP phone system switch. These numbers are assigened to SKYPE and VONAGE users at random in place of caller ID functionality. Many people are abusing these services and using them for "phone spam" advertising and soliciting, since they cannot be identified by the receiving party. Some of the numbers handed out are...

Those are just sales calls we get them too. Nothing to worry about. When you here click sounds then dead sounds it means that its a computer sounds. Just hang up after 2 seconds or not answer the phone when you see the phone number. I usually double click the phone talk button when that number calls.

We had the same problem too, then i got creeped out so my dad caled up the phone service people and they told him its just a signal surge in our area while they do maintenence or sumthing.
