Cant you arrange 2 more legs ?
So that you can have 4 legs for safeguarding the football from all 4 directions and 5th for running with football.

use all three
one for running,
one for kicking the ball
and one for kicking the referee in the nuts!!

use the middle one. But I think it will hurt if someone will kick on balls in game.
