I cant believe that some employers have banned decorations thats so sad i find it hard to believe that anyone could be offended by people getting together once a year, families that you havent seen for ages and having a huge meal and giving each other presents, if someone does find this offensive because of religious reasons please can you explain it. and if there really are people out there that are offended why?

It's really absurd!..I'm non-Christian and Turkish, here in Turkey 99% of the population is Muslim (although the majority is Muıslim only on paper as they^re not practicing), however there are Xmas decorations everywhere! Xmas trees, lights, ghirlands are in every mall, restaurant, street and so on! People here put up their trees and open their gifts on New Year's Eve and although Xmas together with the tree and the rest are Christian traditions, everyone is happy to embrace such a joyful celebration where family gathers, share and children get their gifts! Bigots and extremists are the only ones who'd get offended!...And there are bigots in every religion: in Italy , a country with a strong Catholic background, people got offended and decided to ban Chinese Xmas decorations because they found them offensive! Isn't that INSANE???? I pity those people, I really do, 'cause they don't understand the meaning of brotherhood.

the popular excuse is that everyone wants to be POLLITICALLY CORRECT.
this is an excuse. what they really mean is that we are being overly polite to people who are overly POLLITICALLY SENSITIVE. we stopped using the word christmas, because GOD FORBID we should offend the "jews"( as an example).but i know a lot of jews, and when i asked them, they could care less about our use of the word christmas.
Now, if you want to know why stores have done it for so many years , it is this...
there are more than a few holidays occuring around the same time every year and they would use the term ' happy holiday' so they could sell products to people of all beliefs. because at the time people were being overly sensative and would start boycotts over this trival wording. very financially soud at the time but now is only plain silly.

It doesn't offend anyone. It's simply a select number of anti-christians having a good old whinge and whine to see if they can influence our way of life and abolish our traditions because they are pricks.

The sad thing is that to keep the peace, the christian folks give in.

They have the same mentality as those fat bastards who almost eat themselves to death on McDonalds and then turn around and try to sue them for making them fat. Why? Because they are pricks and want to test the system. They know they are wrong but they are selfish and have no morals.

It's all very one sided and the reason I will one day move the Queensland.

I think its just a good excuse for the tight fisted employers to get out of putting their hands in their pockets and giving a few pounds as a contribution to their workers bit of Christmas fun and the rest of them that have a problem with it are the PC brigade, their the biggest whingers and moaners going, long live Christmas, its the most wonderful time of the year.

I think it's a real shame that we don't feel as though we can celebrate a particular festival in a certain way for fear of upsetting a particular group. In the interest of building bridges between faiths and cultures we should be learning about all religious festivals and exercising acceptance and tolerance.

Merry Christmas to all.

Christians, being a majority, think everyone else should live with Christianity and like it. "Muslims shouldn't wear their scarves" is an example of Christians trying to bully others into being like them. Don't do this or that but let us do what we like, in your face.

Live and let live is what I say. Your question is as ignorant as blind faith which is your foundation. And by the way, I'm an agnostic. If you had even an ounce of intelligence, you might have a chance at understanding how stupid your question really is but of course you've been brain washed for so long that it's beyond you. LIVE OUTSIDE THE BOX.

Be well, not ignorant!

They haven't "banned" Christmas. Read this excellent article from today's Guardian and learn that it is, as usual, nonsense from the right-wing press:
