I had this same problem because I used computers for work and school everyday.
Try using an anti-glare screen for your monitor...or change your monitor altogether. Get an LCD monitor as it is easier on the eyes. Another reason could be the way the monitor is positioned with respect to your line of sight.
Check out this website for steps to remedy this problem:

Hello there, I had the same problem for last two weeks, I was unable to see the pc screen, I was unable to read a book. I went to a doctor got medicine even that I had problem.
Then I thought and thought and found that if I could adjust pc screen contrast which I reduced and gradually I become able to use my pc and now can read book.
I suggest better check the brightness of screen then better see a doctor. Try not to use pc long hours. Doctor had told me when we use pc long or watch TV for long duration our eyes get dried and needed to be lubricated.
I don't know what else I should tell you. I can feel that pain in eyes when I read this question of yours.

Go and spot your GP. Yellowing eyes are a signal of jaundice, suggests there's some thing no longer particularly proper along with your liver. A few blood exams will swiftly diagnose the quandary. Good good fortune take care

I've heard that its healthy to (every 15 minutes or so) take a 2 minute break. Close your eyes to rest them. And focus on things far away so you don't get headaches. Then go back to work.

If this is the only time they hurt like this it could be from dryness. when people are on the computer they don't blink their eyes much and they dry out. This causes them to burn, feel irritated, and can cause your vision to be blurry. I would recommend that you blink more, take frequent brakes from the computer about every hour for like 10 min, and use artificial tears like systane when needed.

you probably need glasses or to sit closer, or farter away, also turn down the contrast on your monitor it may be too bright.
