I got a deal a few months ago with Tesco. 60% off for new customers for Home Insurance.
Even then I paid just £135 (previous year it was £420), and no messing around with working out a valuation for what your property is worth (in worse case scenerio).. as Tesco gave me blanket cover for value up to £1 million pounds.
Don't think Tesco still have the offer on - but definately worth trying to seek out a good deal. GL.

Its impossible to say what company would offer you the cheapest insurance for the best cover as its all dependent on the type of property and where it is you live. I would say to stay away from brokers and get quotes direct from insurance companies such as Zurich and Fortis who underwrite their own products.
