I have a huge project that involves excel, and I have the following problem: I want to copy certain lines (containing data that was calculated through a formula from given data) and paste them in a separate worksheet, but for whatever reason, instead of those values it gives me gibberish (#ref.) How do I fix this?

This is because cells that are referenced in the formula are not being copied to the new worksheet. If all you care about are the numbers, then this is an easy fix. When you paste, go to Edit--> Paste Special, and then select the "Numbers Only" or simlar option. It will paste all the numerical values from the cells instead of copying the formulas you entered.

You could use Paste Special as others have said, but if the calculations change in the original sheet, you'll need to Paste Special the new values.

A better alternative might be to link the cells. Open both spreadsheets, and select a cell in the new sheet and type '=', then select the cell from the original sheet that you want there and hit the enter key. Now the new sheet will contain that value and update it if there is a change in the original.

Be sure to save your work!

simple , just check your formula, whether you have given a absolute reference or an cell reference, because as you have mentioned that it has a formula, the reference is very important

to over come this what you could simply do is

if you need only the values = copy the cells, and when you are going to paste it -----> click on a Cell and activate it-----------> then click on the Edit Button in your menu bar --------> select pace special ------------> and then choose the option values only----> and then paste it...

your problem will be solved

As far as I'm aware you have to copy and paste from one document to the other BUT you can only do it one box at a time and not a lot of lines together.

instead of just pasting, right click and select paste values.
