The Adelaide Festival was the first city wide arts festivals in Australia. Bloody Don Dunstan.

Never any convicts sent to South Australia. It is known to promoters of the Arts and World Music Festivals as the "Festival State" but to no one else. It's just a buzzword.

Because when they named this state back in 1804 they were very festive, the naming party had too many home brews sent over from England and the convicts also had put some extra ingredient in the home brew so when they went to name this lovely state they were a little to blind and couldn’t think of anything else so they just named it the first thing that came to their head...happy dayz...

Don't know, doesn't seem like it lol.
