Our Rottweilers seem to put people off the porch and down the sidewalk. But really I think they would lick them to death. lol

Most insurance companies wont insure your home if you have the best breed for protection. If you want intruders to be mauled get a doberman , pit bull, or rottweiler. If you want to discourage the home invader any barking dog will do. After all, that invader doesn't KNOW what a dog will do or is capable of doing. Terriers could and would eat their ankles. Terriers would make no bones about letting people know there is an intruder. We are 5 dog poor. All shapes and sizes, trust me you don't know what each is capable of........I on the other hand do!

Long list but my opionion is this:
Japanese Akita number one.
Rottweiller number two.
Doberman number three.
King German Shepherd number four.
American Bull Dog or Staffordshire number five.
Mastiff Dogs of any type number six.
I would not put pit bull in this list as they can be dog aggressive but not always human aggressive. Japanese Akita will always protect it's there basic instinct.

get two dogs a little terrier and a great Dane. for some reasom little dogs are more aggresive to intruders and will bark their little heads off while the slower minded big dog will hear this and come for back up and intimidation purposes. i know i have seen this on countless occasions

Dogs are divided into class, virtually any dog in the "working class" i.e. doberman, Rottweiler, German shepherd, etc or the "herding class". But even terriers can do the job.

German shepards are trained for celebrities and can cost up to 20,000 per dog given the kind of training they have had and who trained them. So, since the highest paid trainers use them, I'd have to go with the German Shepard

One of those little "yippy" dogs that bark at everything. Burglars hate them and have been known to walk away from apartments or houses that have them. And as we all know dogs hear things that we don't.
