the sound plays fine but the playback is jerky (in media player and also nero showtime).. should i install a converter to convert it into a mpeg??.. thanks..

You could always try using a different player such as VLC Player. If the playback is not 'herky-jerky' on VLC, you can go about troubleshooting Media Player, and it's codecs.

AVI plays every frame of a video which can cause it to appear jerky in media players, compressing it to mpg should solve your problem, if you have no video software try taking it into windows movie maker and convert it to .wmv

could be the codecs you are using. you may want to try downloading something like the kazaa lite codec pack and see if it still plays choppy in the media player they provide. you can download it from here...i suggest the mega codec pack.
