From 2 hours before going to bed you can expect about 8 hours of sleep, so figuring 2+8 you should be awake 10 hours after you take it.

Really you are supposed to be taking it for 2 days before you expect it to have a solid effect and you will need to take it for 2 days more to get completely back on a circadian rhythm

First of all, take it at your bedside, right before you are going to lay down to sleep. Don't take it sooner. And you should allow 6-8 hours for sleep. Everyone is different. Our brains makes its own melatonin, but sometimes not enough to engage the sleep cycle. I'm assuming you are experiencing insomnia. After a week or two, you will know the hours of benefit/sleep to expect. Good Luck! And sweet dreams!

You usually don't feel drowsy after taking melatonin. Just see that you have your normal amount of sleep.
