No! O is the universal donor & AB is the universal recipient. Shame it's the wrong way round. Good luck with where your question brings you from.

Blood typing - Every person is a blood type A, B, AB or O. The donor's blood type DOES NOT have to be the same as the recipient's blood type, but it must be "compatible" (see crossmatch testing).
That was from the source. Additionally keep in mind, even if it matches, there is a chance the recipient's body will reject the donated kidney.
*edit*
Rat seems to have elaborated more on this, and this is probably more relative to whether it would be rejected by the recipient's body.
* I suggest visiting the site I listed as a source below, because that page is a total fact sheet about the evaluation that's done prior to transplant.
Whatever the case may be with you or whoever you're asking this for, the best of luck and my prayers are with them. My grandfather passed from PKD (Polycystic Kidney Disease) but outlived his life expectancy by many years, so I am thankful for that and this question just hit very close to home.

I couldn't just sit around and do nothing like my doctors suggested.
They didn't want me to do anything or to take herbs or herbal remedies, but I had to try something - they just wanted me to do dialysis!
This program allowed me to take control of my health. I went from Stage 4 to Stage 3 kidney disease.
It was easy to do and my BUN, creatinine and anemia are all in better ranges.

sure, i'm an organ donor besides. i like the concept that there may well be factors of me taken to keep others. If those organs are not doing me any good; why shouldn't they help somebody else stay an prolonged existence.

You will need to have an HLA tissue typing done (human leukocyte antigen) for compatiblity. Blood type is not as big an issue as whether if you're HLA typing is compatible.

You should really ask a doctor about it.

I thought it was all to do with tissue typing, not blood group. You are not actually transferring blood are you.....
