Is it possible to mix Absinthe with any type of beverage to take away the overpowering taste?

Well, you should not drink absinthe neat. It is intended that you dilute it with 6-8 parts ice cold water and just enjoy the flavor. If you don't like the flavor of absinthe then why drink it?

But I reckon that 7-Up makes a great match if you want something different -- the bubbles and lemony taste adds a lot.

I just watched an informative program on it rescently.
They said the only thing that should be mixed into a good quality absinthe is melting ice above it. Or if you don't have the special glass, i guess you could mix in cold water. But that's it.

Traditionally, you would pour it over sugar cubes into the glass. They even have/had special sppons made just for this purpose.
