I have this lump around the upper part of my knee. I've had it for awhile now and have now noticed a very visible blood vessel just under the skin. And sometimes I get sharp pains in the lump and my leg is tingly at times. I know should see a doctor, but I was just wondering if anyone has any possible idea what it might be from my description? And if I should wait til the begining of the year to get it checked out. I'm kind of scared of what it might be, cuz a few years ago I had a dream where I was sick and in the dream I had my leg amputated. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

DId you bump it, or have an accident or something, or is this something that just appeared?

You haven't described a time frame, or how it began - like was there any trauma to your knee. Did it come up suddenly or gradually, amd over how long? Was it painful to begin with - is the pain worse now or has it been dying down? How big is it? Was it always this big or has it been growing (or shrinking)? etc.

Possibilities:

Abnormal blood vessels (haemangioma)
Bruise (following trauma usually)
Arthritis
Bursitis
Thrombophlebitis
Varicose Vein
Fractured bone with displacement and deformity (I think you'd know if you had a broken bone)

Psychological

Cancer (of skin, muscle, bone, cartilage etc)

Go see a doctor. Don't wait for the new year.

I think you should see a doctor right away. Bruises don't tend to be sharp pains and when it involves tingling you should get it checked out. Don't wait because it's an unknown problem.

I don't see why you should wait until the beginning of the year. What would be the potential benefit? Just go now. It could be something completely harmless, so why put yourself through more anxiety?
