There was no such grouping at our prophet times.this all started after his death........... this is all political game working in those fights.sometimes their own leaders make them fight for the sake of their positions and some times a foreign power work for those fights....just to disturb the peace of that place and achieve thier political advantages (devide and rule)..This is not at all an islamic act..but a humen ignorance that they don't think from their own mind rather they follow the corrupt leaders blindly.
Peace !!!

Muslims don't really fight each other. It's called that and reported as such to put a wedge between the two Islamic factions. They've gotten along fine in every country for generations. The invading powers don't want to admit that they're getting a whooping in Iraq from Iraqi' nationals who don't want an invading enemy on their soil. It's called self defense, not sectarian violence. they just call it that to begin problems between Shi'ites and Sunni's. It's an old colonization tactic and it has a name; it's called "divide and conquer". Just an old trick.
GREAT QUESTION!!

Just like there are different forms of Christianity (Catholic, AOG, Presbyterian etc) There are different forms of Muslims. However the differences between the different forms of Muslims are huge.
These differences include women fully covering their face or not, polygamy, who Muhammad was etc.
I only got this idea from one book about Muslim Women and there are a lot of other differences as well, that is why they fight all of the time, because they have the same "religion", but different ideas about how it should be carried out.
The reason that these differences came about in the first place is because the Koran constantly contradicts itself on these matters and others. (Find a book about it somewhere or look it up on the internet, very interesting).
The "disturbance of the peace" because of these conflicts have been going on since the religion began.
The Bible does not contradict itself.

I think you're mistaken in thinking it's the Muslims.
Why did the Catholics slaughter the Gnostic Christians
The Yellow Turban Revolt is a famous struggle between two Taoist sects.
Shiites and Sunnis, it's a product of the human condition not of the religion.
People fight because they feel as though their culture is threatened. We fight to preserve our culture, it's ingrained in us. the need to survive at any cost.
Not Muslim, not Christian, not Taoist... just human. Silly silly creatures.

Dear, there were no sunni and shiite muslims in the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him). Secondly, yes I agree that sunni and shiite muslims do have conflicts but not to the level you seem to be presenting. Check this link so that your eyes are opened about what else is going on.
There is lots of propaganda involved too.
MAKE SURE you check this link.

human violence has existed since humans existed. this war is just like the war between england and france a few centuries ago. the was between shiites and sunnis will end, but hundreds of thousands of innocent lifes will be lost by then. This phenomena has occured times and times again and has so signs of stopping, which is how Bush justified his involvement in Iraq.

Religion violence got it's big start as God was changed from a woman to a man about the time that Judaism got it's start. Prior to that religion was relatively peaceful. Generally speaking, males are more violent that females

Think of it like the Protestant and Catholic fight that has been going on for years. The violence in Ireland between those two sects has been almost of the same calibre.

POWER: every war is made for power and supremacy. Religions, cultural or ethnic differences are just the excuses people use in order to gain power and supremacy. Even Christianity had a big scism, it's not a matter of religion at all, it's just a matter of greed.
