an ATP(air transport pilot) makes around 100,000-200,000 on a big airline flying long-haul aircraft
for smaller commercial aircraft they make around 50,000-100,000
but there's A LOT of competition in the airline industry right now, it's difficult to get a decent pilot job.

Well I'm a Commercial Pilot and I'm making absolutely nothing. This has a lot to do with the fact that I'm still a student and I'm waiting to get a degree and build up hours before I try getting a real flying job.

It depends on if you work for the majors (United, American, etc) or the minors (Commuter Airlines - US Air Express, etc). If you are working for the majors you will make about 35k-50k your first 2 years. Once you reach 5 years seniority you can typically fly right seat on a 757 or similar and make between 100k-115k.
