I would really like to give him a great but unusual name. I would really love some ideas.

Please no jokes . . .

I named my boy Waffles.

I think it's supercute.

I think Pharoah's good too.

I think boy names are more difficult to come up with. I have always liked Cooper, Peanut, Sam, Duncan and I named my little chi Oliver. But I too would wait alittle to see what personality he has. (but not too long because you want to use his name as soom as you can) Now jokingly we say we should have named him either Hoover, as in the vaccum because he walks around scouring for anything on the floor, or Speed Racer because of the way he races and zips around the house. Good luck in choosing a name, it is a difficult thing to do!

Names are personal, I combined the parents names of my girl. When I was younger I rescued a dog from under a bridge and called her "Bridgette". My mom gave her new dog the name she wanted to give me. My aunt picks a "theme" for her litters. (it's something you need to come up with)

My best suggestion is to remember your favorite book or character, time or place in history, god, children's story or perhaps look through the dictionary or encyclopedia (doesn't have to be an English edition).

Good luck.

I like to find out the personality of the dog and apply a name that goes with his/her personality. I tend to give my dogs "people" names. My current dogs are: Freddy, Maggie and Gracie.

Another option is to go with a traditional name from you ethnicity. For example assume you are Indian, you could name the dog Silina, Somity, Nadia (if it is a girl). Or you could pick a foreign language that is not used so much like Russian and name it dog in Russian.

I have had many chi's.... I think you have to check out their personality. If you want to stay with an ethnic chi name - chico, cha cha... I have Gizmo, Zipper, Vixen and Kotcha I have also had for a female Petita (small) Topo, Tuggar,..
Some other cute names are Nacho, Salsa, Lego, all depends on their personality...
