by neighboring natives. It turns out the young man and his parents were shipwrecked on the island when he was just 5 years old. His parents died, but by some miracle he survived. He found water, berries and bananas. Later he learned to catch fish & forage for eggs. At night he slept under the stars. Each morning he awoke with the sun. The wind blew, the rain fell, and he was happy. Over time forgot about people.
When the natives found him, he was shocked, but slowly began to remember his youth and parents. The natives started to teach him their religion... in order to get food and water, for the sun to rise, and to be happy, he had to pray to their god. They told him that even though his parents were dead, he could still talk to them in prayers.
Suddenly, everything the young man knew was in conflict. Food simply grew. Rain just fell, and the sun came up no matter what! His whole life his parents never spoke to him. Life never required prayer before.
So why should he change now?

He may not have 'required' prayer before in order that his needs were met, but that does not change the fact that there is a God there to meet his needs- I don't agree with certain aspects of the natives religion in this particular scenario, but t the very least, one way or another this young man would have the truth of God and His authority revealed to him- at that point, whenever it is in his life, he has the option of being grateful for the provision he has enjoyed thus far and the choice to fellowship and build a relationship (through prayer ) with God, or to reject fellowship, reject his authority and continue on his way- his earthly existence may seem little affected by it but his eternity will depend on the choice he makes.
The food grew and rain fell- it falls on the just and the unjust, it is because God has already set the laws in motion for these things to happen- it is just a matter of knowing the source from whence it came

He should not change. Peace and happiness were already his, before someone taught him to see things through another perspective.
If a person is happy.....there should be no need to attempt to change them.
Does God prefer people who are happy or people who are knowledgeable? The rain falls and the sun rises on everyone.

"change now" is a problem. change eventually is what he will probably do, if their culture seems acceptable to him. if they are calm and peace-full and he is of a peace-full nature he will eventually blend in. If they are vengeful and harsh and he accepts that, then again he will blend. An innocent, open mind will 93% of the time adopt the mind set of those closest to him.
4% Resist and live outside of society
3% Rebel and are cast out or imprisoned

Yes there are very very few places in the world where this utopia exists, none in Europe, Australia, North America, West or the Middle East etc..
He doesn't have to change, he can live a life of ignorance in their misguided beliefs right where he is now.

The Iliad and the Odyssey via Homer :) the 1st one tells the tale of the Trojan conflict, and the 2nd of Odysseus attempting to get homestead back to Ithaca. the two books are crammed with Greek names and Etiquette, a lot of Greek Gods and Goddesses, a lot of historic past, and a lot of subculture. those 2 are an stunning initiate :)

it appears the natives are very controlling. the natives should minister to the child whether he belives in their god or not.obviously he was being taken care of before the natives found him, he should be ok without the natives.he shouldnt changed unless he trully belives in what the natives are teaching. he shouldn't be forced to belive to get his necessities

In muslim teaching, God is described as the most merciful. He has mercy to both muslim and non-muslim but there's a different what those two get. Mercy towards non-muslim is mostly during this lifetime and mercy towards muslim is at lifetime and hereafter. So God will always help those non-muslim so they can see and seek the real truth in this life. Even though they didnt get mercy in hereafter, at least they have it during their lifetime and they had their chance.

Change for change sake is not change at all ! It's conformity - that's all ! One day food won't simply, grow (Global Warming), Rain will not fall (Drought) and the sun ... will be the catalyst behind them both. So ... why change now ? - You tell me !!!

Prayer isn't required for the basic necessities in life. Consider this:
Matthew 6:25"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?
Prayer is required to establish a relationship with God just as phone calls & letters (or emails) are required to establish & maintain a relationship with someone on earth. Prayer is talking to God. It's no different than me calling up my earthly father & saying, "Can I borrow $20?" or "I just called because I'm thinking about you & I want to tell you I love you." We can ask things of Him because He is our Heavenly Father who desires to give us all good things or we can pray to Him to express our appreciation for the things He's already done in our lives.
Matthew 7:11 (New International Version)
"If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!"
Back to your story, the boy should "change now" because He now knows WHO provided the bananas & the rain & the sun & he should be grateful & give thanks to God above who provides every good gift.
1 Chronicles 16:34 (New International Version)
"Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever."

He shouldn't change at all, especially when happiness is so hard to find and religion being so complicated and all. The young man was happy and alive, and I think as long as he is content with the way he was, he should remain that way.
