Putting my mothers hand writtien manuscripts to book form?

My mother has written several childrens book but they are all in hand written form. How can I find some sort of software or something to put them into book/manuscript form??

The most accurate way would be to type them into a computer using a word processing program. Agreed, that would be a lot of work.

There are optical character recognition programs that will convert a page of text that has been scanned into editable text but most of them would probably have a very hard time working with hand written material especially if your mother wrote in cursive rather than printing.

Finally there are programs that can convert speech to text if your computer is powerful enough. You could read the manuscripts aloud into a microphone connected to the computer and the program will create a text file. These programs take some work. You often have to "train" them to recognize your speech patterns and even then they are not perfect. But if you could get 90% of the text into the computer it would be a lot less work to correct the mistakes than if you had to type it all in.

I had a computer program called 'Storybook Maker' when I was a kid; it was great fun and provided lots of options for customizing the story's appearance. I think that MECC made it, but it might be kinda hard to find now.

ok go to openoffice.org and download openoffice 2 for free, it is a word processor spreadsheet, data base, office system.

you can scan the pages then use OCR (optical carector recognition software ) to convert the text then import it into a word processor and print it out
