The anesthesias now used are so much safer than what was used just a few years ago. However, an individual dog's tolerance will depend on his heart, liver and kidney function..

It depends on the health of the dog, first and foremost. If you have a healthy dog, then if the surgeries being performed are necessary to his quality of life, then ....I'm not sure there is a set number. The health of the dog and the size of the issue are more important. If he's had several operations in a short period of time then don't opt to have another just to have his teeth cleaned....at least for awhile, although that is important to their health. It's not vital unless it's causing problems.

i would hazard a guess and say that really its never truly safe for a dog to have anaethetic if at all possible, its quite stressful for an animal as they dont understand whats going on so as little as possible i would suggest.

I think the safest answer would be what is the dog doing to need this answer. If your dog is ill your vet will tell you . dont wish illness on the pet or on yourself with worry.

I'd suggest asking your vet, but I expect he'll answer "All but the last one - he didn't come out of it"
