Because Jews beleive Jesus does not fulfill all of the "requirements" (prophesies) of the Messiah. I encourage you to go back and look at specifically what it says the Messiah will do. They feel that he should have fulfilled them literally, which he did not- they were spiritual fulfillments. So let us be careful when interpreting prophesy about the return of Jesus, because most likely those prophesies will not be fulfilled literally either.

Fran, the reason some Jews do not believe in Jesus is because there were two perceptions of the coming Messiah: the WARRIOR MESSIAH, who would deliver the Jews from their enemies as King David did; or the SUFFERING MESSIAH, who would sacrifice himself for the sins of the world. The Jews that reject Jesus as the Messiah want the warrior messiah and therefore, reject Jesus.
Many do. Bob Fishman is a converted Jew first to Protestantism and then Catholicism. He has a wonderful testimony called IT IS WRITTEN where he explains how Jesus fulfills the Old Testament prophesies of the Messiah.

Yeah, but Jesus was only born a Jew; who decided he wasn't a Jew anymore. He abandoned Judaism and started another religion.

The Pharisees have lied and told us not to believe because that is a threat to their control and power.
Some Jews continue that 2000 year old tradition of faith in Messiah as I am one of those Jews.

Becuase they don't reconginize the New Testamont, in which Jesus was born and raised. And also they believe that Jesus was a man and here on earth because there is evidence that he actaully died on a cross. They just think he was a prophet.
If you knew that last part , sorry but I had to put it in to make sure I was getting your whole question.

BECAUSE HE CAME AS A LAMB, NOT AS A LION.
The Jews expected a Messiah who would make their enemies their footstool. Not a Messiah who would give Himself as a sacrifice for all people. Funny, many messianic prophesies point to a messiah who would be crucified. "By His stripes we are healed." "They will mourn Me whom they have pierced." Merry Christmas.

he came after their religion had been going for a few thousand years. Some one standing up out of nowhere and saying i'm the son of your god doesn't really go well. Imagine if any random person claimed this today and plenty do, to be magical or the son of god, we don't take these people seriously and we certainly don't follow them. If we did it would be a cult and cults are brought down, leaders killed or imprisoned

Who told you that? That person is either misinformed or an idiot. Jesus comes from the old testament, the old testament is the Jewish Torah. They believe in jesus, they just don't think he was a messia.

because war still exists in the world. the messiah, when he comes, is prophecied to end all warfare and destroy all weapons of destruction. as well, he will bring all the jews home to israel, and he will rebuild the holy temple.
