cub6ib9,I threw the question out there to ask the opinion of people, not because I'd never HEARD of Tyson or Ali.Compare the question to when people ask if Jordan was the greatest of all time-Some say yes, some say no.Why bother answering the question if you think it's stupid?

I have to agree with Cosell. Tyson as it turns out was overrated when he was in his prime. Ali was not full appreciated until after his prime.

While Tyson was known to be the bully in the ring, his fights were very short being that bully. It was his defeat, when fighters took that away from em. Ali on the other hand, would not be pushed around. To many times in his fights did he meet a bully like Tyson and they all suffered defeat. Ali gained the championship from one of the biggest bully of that time,Sonny Liston. There is to much hand speed and foot speed from Ali for Tyson to really get his bone crunching hooks and uppercuts to Ali. Besides, Ali fought better as he back peddled.
A fighter had more of a chance against Ali if they were controlled and balanced boxer , much like Ken Norton or in this day Evander Hollyfield.

Ali Wins, hands down. He beats Tyson same way he did Foreman in Africa back in the 70's.
Tyson has the knockout capability but ali plays with him. Tyson's speed would be greater than Foreman's was when ali fought him, but Ali was too big, too fast, too smart for a dumby like Tyson.

Ali would beat Tyson to a pulp. Tyson is a bumbling whale in the ring. You should look at the old Ali films: he really did float like a butterfly and jab like a bee.

I think Cosell was right. Ali was always in good condition and with his style of ring management he would bring Tyson down. He would know when to dance around, how to slip punches and when to dive in and pepper him. Tyson would be most like Frazier, just charging and punching. It would have it's moments of drama, but Ali would prevail. And of course there would always be the rematch.

In his prime Ali was unbeatable. His speed and stamina would defeat Mike Tyson who in his prime was an extremly powerful fighter. Ali was a boxer and a good boxer will usually beat a good fighter except for the lucky punch. Good Question.

Ali would outsmart Tyson and tire him out. Tyson's only hope would be connecting one of those wicked shots from the hip. If they fought ten times, Ali wins at least six.

I think we tend to forget just how awesome the young motivated Tyson was. This is not a forgone conclusion by any means. Ali always had a problem with Joe Frazier, he would have had a bigger problem with Tyson. Very hard to call, I'd love to have seen it.

Ali would win because, before Tyson can bite off Ali's ear, Ali's smart-*** mouth would give Tyson an earful !

Ali could put his hands in his jock and still beat Tyson, quick hands ,fast on this feet and his reach kept opponents away.He could lay on the ropes and wear his opponent out just playing with them. His taunting got to all his opponents before he even got into the ring.Maricano the bull would give him a much better fight and I would that one a toss up.Ali speed and reach against the Bulls hammering blows and relentless pursuing of his opponents would make a great fight. It was once done thought computer and the Bull won.True

Ali. Just too fast. Too good. He doesn't have to do a rope a dope to beat Tyson. He's going to mess with his head and ko Tyson in the 8th round.
