The purpose behind most of my questions has been to provoke thought, and try to coax people to actually think. An effort which has been, for the most part, fruitless. I agree with you, though. I'm tired of seeing so many stupid questions on here. The obvious joke ones. It's getting old. And so are the ones that are nothing more than thinly veiled political/religious arguments.

Just because a question is posted that may provoke an arguement doesn't mean it's a bad question and not looking for serious answers. Actually a question that leads to a good arguement are usually some of the better questions. Some questions are probably in fact just people playing around or wasting time. Then again who are we to rate the validity of a question. Though is may seem stupid to us it may be completely sersious to the person who asked it. I see a lot of not so serious answers for that matter. Perhaps Yahoo should set up a similiar system that not only lets you vote for the best answer but also lets user vote for the best questions ;)

When I ask a non religious question I'm asking because I need an answer. In the religion category I try to answer questions where I think I can be helpful, but I typically don't ask them. I often wonder however if people are asking just for an argument.

I think it depends on the category of question. For example, most questions in the mathematics category are serious questions. Unfortunately most questions posted in this category, religion and spirituality, are not serious. And as you noted, some are posted by trolls just to provoke an argument.

I provide it a star because of the fact i actually do think of that's thrilling or is a sturdy poem diverse from something which i could choose to seem lower back and examine lower back. once I celeb the poem it relatively is like saving the question and complimenting them too. so as that way I won't lose the poem to hundreds of others poems on yahoo if I ever had to envision it lower back. additionally, i do no longer probable use Yahoo for acquaintances purely asking and answering questions. I touch my acquaintances making use of the internet on msn or facebook. wish this defined properly adequate my oppinion considering i'm prevalent to flow on alot :D happy New twelve months! x

Most times i ask questions only to get needed information. I have however asked questions just because, although rarely.
I do prefer to answer the questions that seem serious, although, as you say, they are few and far between.

I think it's 10% serious questions. About 30% funny/joke questions. 2% bizarre questions and the rest are people harping about religion or politics.

I do sometimes. I feel a joke is a joke. Leave it at that. A joke about a redneck is not offensive if you ignore it. If you emailed me about it, I might remove it. It is better to forget about that and report the very real expressions of hate and prejudice on this forum. I come across them sometimes, but I am not the only person who can do something about it.

I do that's why I've only posted like 12 because I know a serious answer is a rarity.

I'm always looking for serious answers. I think that people who ask stupid question is offensive to people that are. They should respect others and either ask serious questions or get off.
