today while I was at work , one of children accidently let cat out,, since then, we got several inches of snow and zero temperatures,, Live in a double wide mobile home, on back side of home where skirting is and water line runs under mobile home, is a hole big enough for cat to crawl inside under mobile home ,, I have gone outside calling him and a few times he;s poked his head outside hole and cries, but wont come out because he is deathly afraid of the snow,,, Last winter we found him as a tiny kitten almost froze to death ,, This must have tramuatized him of snow, is this possible? And when Iam inside , I can keep hearing him cry under home,,,, Can he freeze to death overnight outside? And any suggestions on how to get him to come out,? Laid his favorite blanket out there by hole,, placed food there to try to coax him out, so far nothing works HELP !!!

Does your cat play or chase a string? If there is any way for you to get a piece of string and maybe tie a chunk of paper like a bow tie onto the string and try to draw him out with this. Talk to him in your normal voice and not a distressed one. If he pops his head out the the hole when you draw the string towards you, try getting him out the rest of the way, if not, try scruffing his neck and getting him out. Do this only if you know you can get a good hold of his neck on the first try. Otherwise he may not come out again with the string toy, but that depends on the cat. Also a laser pen light shining in the hole and draw it outwards towards you,may also work.
Try clearing as much snow away from the hole as you can. Or lay blankets down to cover the snow there to your door if possible.
That kind of weather can be deadly for any animal to freeze to death, especially one that isn't moving about much. Try to get him in as soon as possible.

If he's under the house, he should be at least partly protected. It is kind of dangerous for him though. He might be really scared and freaked out...can you go to the hole and just call to him, and slowly try to reach out to him? Or can you do something like put an umbrella up while you're out there, to help camoflage the snow?

I actually have a similar story - a few years back, an ice storm was coming to the city where I lived, so I had to run out and do some laundry and get a few groceries, for the anticipated power outage. I think that when I was leaving for this my little black cat escaped. Got clean clothes and food, came home, and was listening to the ice come down and watching TV a few hours later, petting my other kitty, when I realized that I hadn't seen Sable in a while. That's odd, because she's very clingy. After determining that she wasn't inside, I went outside several times, looking all around, and finally found her a couple of hours later underneath a tarp that someone had put over their bikes, in the apartments behind mine.

I have lured cats to the house by boiling a salmon head...I make cat soup with them. I always end up with all the cats in the neighborhood on my deck. If you have a can of tuna try putting in on the simmer...It'll smell up the house but hopefully lure the cat in.
If you can't get him in at all, put something made from thick wool inside the hole under the house where it is sheltered. Spread it out so the cat can curl up on it. The wool will trap heat from the cats body and if he ends up out there all night it might help.

Oh how typical of a cat. They love nothing better than to worry us half to death. Cat's are incredible resiliant creatures. He's unlikely to freeze to death. They coats are great insulators against cold and wet. His stomach will be the key. Once his hungry overpowers his fear of snow, he'll be back.

Im not sure if this will help, but whenever my cat is around the house and we dont know where she is..we shake her bag of whiskas treats and she comes running. Sorry this always works for my cat.

Are you sure he is capable of getting out? Maybe he is injured or stuck. Can't you get someone to get under there and get him before
it is too late? An animal rescue, police, fire dept,
of friend? Good luck, I hope he is O.K.!

If you cannot lure him out, please call your local animal shelter or animal rescue. He should not be left outside in the cold!
