The reason seems to be lack of intelligence. The inability to understand or evaluate another persons belief. What they are saying is 'I am right and you are wrong' and I hate you.
The intelligent approach would be let me evaluate this persons belief and come to conclusions, see what is in my religion that compares with theirs and come to joint conclusion. If you are unable to do this you are living in a confined mental state from which only violence can be the outcome.

People can. It's usually fanatics who take their religion and then distort it to suit their views and or goals that end up taking things to the extreme.
Most Muslims - a very common example, unfortunately - are normal people who have their beliefs and let other people have their own beliefs. They don't all go around strapping bombs to their chests and killing innocent people over a piece of land.
Sadly, it's the ones that do these same terrible acts that get all the attention - and by doing so, get those who share similar - NOT the same - faith(s) a bad reputation.

the Key word you seek is BRAINWASHED and their.like thy are because its all thy know, and think its right and thy dont know or are not willing to accept the 1 god that counts dont worry it's a self weeding prosses. it cuts down on the population of souls thats allready their . Religion is just one way. Just like racism, nationalism, and blood vengeance, that is used by those that want power, to stir up "silly" people to do their bidding.
And while they kill each other. The ones in power sit around, drink
champagne, eat caviar, and make witty comments!

Because it comes down to the individual.
Some just take it too far... and that's where fanatics come into it.
It can get pretty dangerous.
So again it comes down to the people.. Not the god. or Gods that are there said.
