I don't know why, but I just can't hold the urge to use the restroom, and it really is disturbing, especially during the exams and classes (which sometimes annoys the teacher, although they know that I'm not going to the restroom to cut class).

I try not to take in lot of fluid the day when there is a really long class or an important test, but I have to take SAT soon, and I'm not sure if I'll be able to hold it for nearly 4 hours!? I think I especially have the urge to go when I'm nervous, like taking tests. I also start to worry a lot if I go to a new place, and can't find the restroom to use...

Is there something you can do to stop that urge, other than not drinking a lot and not thinking about it? Is it like a panic attack, sort of?

Take the Homeopathic Remedy GELSEMIUM in 30 three times a day half hour before meals for three days and it will cure your Exam Nerves as well as the urge to visit the restroom, totally without any side effects or complications of any sort.

Been there, and here is some things that work.
Strange as it seems reducing your fluid input will make the urge worse. Because the urine gets more concentrated. So drink water and fruit drinks (not sugary or diet) regularly in small amounts during the day.
Don't drink any milk or have milk products the day before the test. You can have a sensitivity to milk protein and it has that side effect.
Ibuprofen reduces the urge markedly. I suggest taking 3 tablets (I've checked with my doctor this is not too much, max dose is 4) with food before bed. Then take 3 with breakfast, test morning.
Try these out beforehand, I think you see a real improvement.
Couple of questions. Have you always had this problem? Because if it's recent there are a number of possibilities. Yes, as some suggested an infection is one. But have you changed your diet; food, drink? Taking any medication. These can do it also.
I know how frustrating this is, I'm hoping this info will give you some relief.
Best of luck on your SATs.

Since you mentioned the SAT, my first suggestion is to ask your parents to take you to your doctor to find out more.

Now, my wife has a similar situation (thought not as severe as your) and she tells me (in jest) that she has the bladder the size of a peanut. When she needs to go (such as on a car trip) I pull over to the first place with a decent restroom. My wife had one teacher in school that refused to let her go to the restroom and she ended up with bladder infections during that year (nowadays, I'm sure the teacher would be reprimanded at the least). She'll be first to tell you to keep drinking water! (And she is a teacher in her 10th year, so she'd help you if she could.)

It may simply be that you have a smaller than normal bladder; however, there's a *slight* chance that something inside you is out of whack and enlarged, which makes "holding the urge" difficult for you.

If you see a doctor, he/she could probably diagnose what it is, or at the least, give you a "doctor's note" which would explain your situation to all your teachers and this would also give you a pass to use the restroom.

As an aside, speaking as a former substitute teacher and my wife being a teacher (both for elementary), I cannot see the logic and feasibility of them preventing all the students from using the restroom during a 4-hour test. At her school when the students have to take standardized tests (and teachers hate them more than students do), the students are allowed to go one at a time to the restroom. When teachers-, principals-, and superintendants-to-be take their exit tests, this is done the same way, though the monitors stand at their dest with test material in hand while the person is in the restroom.

Good luck to you and take care.

You need to discuss this with your doctor to be sure there is no medical problem going on. The frequent urge to go is called urge incontinence and even if you don't leak urine if you see the doc he may want to try one of the newer medication for you to see if this helps your problem. See the doc but DO NOT limit your fluids as you need the fluids to keep your body hydrated and you urine diluted to help keep bacteria flushed out.

Do you trouble holding it at times that you're not nervous?

Check with a doctor. You might have some sort of urinary tract problem. If that doesn't work take my dad's advice and "stick a cork in it."

They have meds for that, so don't suffer with it. It is stressing you out worrying about it, so go on to the Dr. and get you a prescription and you will be okay. Good luck

that happens to me too when i'm nervous only it happens with poop. everytime i get nervous, i have to poop. for me (the poop thing), it makes physiological sense). when we are scared, our bowels move faster and stronger and u have to have a BM, hence the expression "i was so scared I almost "doo dooed" on myself.

but with the urine, never heard that one, but it's probably related to the same kind of deal.

do not limit your fluid intake. your body needs it during exams and most of us do not drink enough.

just excuse yourself and go. a teacher cannot not let u go to the bathroom if you have to go.
