How do people get your #? We recently got a phone call from our bank saying they turned our card off for suspicious activity. Someone used the number of the card only at wal-mart (we still have the card in our posession) and Wal-mart actually took it!!! Even though this happened a few hundred miles from where we were at the same time (we used it the same day) the bank is giving us a hard time about it. How the heck did they get the number if it never left our sight? Kinda scary, so warning to everyone who thinks it can't happen to them cause they are safe!!!

Walmart tried to call us at an OLD phone number for some reason because they typed in the number... It had to be typed because we have the card. I just don't understand why the cashier took it!!!!

When you pull your card out to use it these days be sure to keep the # covered with your hand. People can use their camera phone to click a pic of your card therefore they then have your card #, and if you used debit they can watch you entered the PIN. I always use credit b/c it needs my signature and they work the same way from your account. Keep your card covered. It also could have been an employee of the store, that happens way more than we are aware of.
Also be really careful about ATM machines. People are installing fake devices over the actually machine that copies your card # and sends it to a PC pr gram and they can therefore print up their own copy of your card. General rule of thumb if it doesn't look the same as your last visit dont insert your card. Also its best to always use your banks ATM.
