my advice is for you to eat enough of wholesome foods,(which you might already be doing) , such as fruits, veg, grains, nuts/seeds, some dairy and meats. if you are eating too much refined sugary foods, i would replace them with natural sugars like fruits and honey.
remember you can do yourself harm in the long run if you eat trying to put on weight when you are not hungry. It sounds as if your body may have a bit of a problem digesting and assimilating your food properly, There could be a number of reasons for this, but the best advice i can give you is to just basically look after your body, by eating mainly healthy foods when you are hungry, don't overdo the exercise, GET PLENTY OF REST, and in time( and it does take time sometimes) your body will slowly absorb more nutrients and go to a healthy weight. if you smoke i would advise stopping. can drink some alcohol, but certainly wouldn't overdo it.
i think it is quite important to be in tune with your bodies desires as well. eg. dont go eating a large bowl of pasta if you don't feel like it. - your body probably won't assimilate much of it anyway.
Fruits and salads are great foods which will nourish your body and cleanse at the same time as well.
hope this helps. good luck.

I think that you could stand to put on a little weight but not much. You are pretty short, so your weight is going to be considerably less than a taller person. You also run a lot, so that also burns that extra weight off. You could start eating more proteins and carbs. Maybe if you were to eat a protein bar with every meal or something of that sort.

My goodness! You are a cross-country runner and have less than 20 pounds of muscle on your skeleton? You'd better find some way of building that muscle mass if you want to win any time soon!
Yes, normally your weight would be unhealthy, but since you are an athlete the 'rules' are a bit different. You should still be within a healhty BMI. Your coach or school nurse can provide you informaiton on the BMI or you can go to http://www.WebMD.com and search for BMI charts.

Are your parents skinny? Siblings? If they are it's probably normal, if not try going to the doctor so they can test you for things that could make you skinny.
