Sometimes the wisdom teeth eruption can cause severe pain, localized infection, inflammation such as operculitis, cyst, and fever. Such inflammation, cyst, and infection may "lock" the masticatory (chewing) muscles so you can't open your mouth (muscle splinting). Being a teacher, if this happens you will not be able to talk at all.
Please see the dentist right away for evaluation. My my practice, if the wisdom teeth are symptomatic, tender to palpation, red or blue color at the eruption site, and the xray show any sign of infection or cyst, I would recommend to have them removed.

No, talking isn't going to affect it. If your most recent xrays showed that the tooth is going to erupt correctly, then some pain reliever, like advil should be enough to take away the discomfort.
Part of the pain could be that the tooth is pushing against the molars next to it. Since you say that you can see the tooth erupting, I'm assuming that it will come in correctly. However, if it continues to be uncomfortable and the pain worsens, you need to see your dentist for new xrays to check the tooth's position.

well, you should definately seriously consider having it removed. once they begin growing, wisdom teeth are very invasive and can result in infection (if the tooth doesn't completely break through the gums, it leaves an opening for bacteria to get it) and crowding of your other teeth.
removal of wisdom teeth, especially ones that are already growing, is going to be very painful and it may take up to 2 weeks (if not longer) before you feel relatively "back to normal". however the longer you wait, the more the teeth are going to attach themselves to the jawbone, making them harder to extract.
my advice is to see a dentist immediately and plan on taking a week off. i know this from my own experience, i talk a lot too for my job and i needed a good week before i felt ok to talk again

Everyone is different as I am sure you are well aware. Mine all came in at different times but each one was painful and I ate pain relievers like they were m&m's. My gum swelled up like balloons around where the tooth was coming in and i had a major headache. I couldn't sleep and I cried and cried and cried ( I'm such a girl) Needless to say I was a major B****. You may be able to do your job just fine. Only you know how much pain you can take and how dedicated you are to your job. Good luck I hope yours wont be too bad.

It all depends on the person. I certainly felt my top ones when they came in because I thought at first that they were canker sores, but they weren't going away. Then one day it dawned on me that my wisdom teeth were coming in and I could feel the tooth coming out of the gums. I didn't feel it when my bottom ones came in, though. If it's a concern to you, just talk to your dentist. They will know what to do.

I'm not sure if talking makes it worse, but certainly you will not be able to do as good of a job if you are distracted by constant pain. See a dentist or oral surgeon immediately. That's what sick days are for.

See a dentist - ASAP!!! Then ask that dentist if you need to be referred to an oral surgeon. Better be safe than sorry. Always try to get that smile back without pain. Remember good dental health leads to good health and general well being.
