i think one of the real reasons that christians can't let themselves believe that homosexuality is ok, something that you are born with,
is not just that the bible in one way or another frowns upon it, but really more because the bible says that god destroyed and killed two entire cities of people for being homosexual.
It's like they stretch their ability to morally reason the issue because it would be so damaging to the rationality and credibility of believing in the bible at all.
do you think that if (or when) the whole homosexuality issue is comprimised,
that it could severely dammage christianity as a whole?
I don't necessarily want christianity to die completely,
i mean, it does serve certain functions, and in certain situations even false hope is still pure hope.
i just wondered if others thought it would have an immense effect

I think that no amount of proof will matter to them at all. They'll keep blindly denying the truth.

Believing homosexuals are "born that way". This is the huge fallacy. Anyone with a dose of common sense and intellectual honesty knows human sexuality starts mentally and becomes physical. This is what separates us from the animals. This fact is proven every time someone becomes disinterested in someone when they make an offensive comment. Even guys will turn down sex when offended.
Other examples of the power of the mind over matter (body) is depression that starts mentally and becomes physical later. When homosexuals say they are born that way it is a lie! They fantasize about homosexual acts first and then act on it. They make an excuse for their deviant behavior by deceiving others they have no free will or choice like it is some kind of disease they caught. (See 1 Thes 2:1-13)

I think you are underestimating the wickedness of the city. Homosexual activity did occur, but it wasn't the only reason God destroyed it. He couldn't even find five righteous people in it. I don't think we even understand that kind of chaos and depravity. The world has yet to see that again. When I see God judging a city like that, I don't think wow he really hated those people. He felt bad for them, but they were such monsters. It was like the whole city was rabid. He had to put it down before it spread. That sounds simplistic perhaps or insensitive since they were people, but they had lost everything about them that makes people good. God does not delight in the death of the wicked. If you think I'm making that up, type it into google. So try to understand, sodomy shares a name with that city, but sodom and gemorrah (sp?) went way beyond San Fransisco, even though who knows, maybe someday....

In a world gone wrong, can anything be set right?
The Sword of Truth has gotten dull?
Can government legislate morality?
Is the battle for souls become blatant?
Where are the warriors of old?
Throw out the sin. Keep the sinner.
How do we let them know how dangerous this can be when we ourselves fall victim? The battle has only just begun. There is darkness upon the horizon, but an entire army of light awaits the call of their Commander.

well, Christians tend to focus on the homosexual sins of Sodom and Gomorrah but other sins were mentioned as reasons for the Bible god's wrath on those cities. it's just that homosexuality is such an easy target because in the Christian context sexuality in and of itself is considered shameful. Christians don't target remarried divorced people for special disdain even tho remarrying after divorce was condemned by Jesus himself as adultery so it really isn't about Biblical law or being righteous. it's about exclusion.
few Christians would expect a remarried divorced person to rid themselves of their spouse and repent their adulterous ways so as to gain Christian acceptance but most Christians demand that gay folks switch around their biology and become heterosexual or live without love and without the comfort of a mate in order to gain Christian acceptance. ya just can't have an exclusivity club without someone to exclude.
i don't think accepting or continuing to exclude gay folks affects the Christian churches one way or another. there's plenty of prejudiced people to fill the pews.

Christians believe homosexuality is a sin because the Bible says it is a sin. Not just because Sodom and Gomorahh was destroyed. 1 Corinthians 6:9Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders.

God says in His word that homosexuality is a deadly sin. Many lives had been destroyed because of it. AIDS still running rampage and even you may say the decease is not only a homosexual illness, still many keep getting infected, for carelessness and sinfulness of not only homosexuals but men in all. No homosexual nor adulterer will inherit the kingdom of God.

Well, Sodom and Gomorrah werent destroyed just because people were homosexual. It had more to do with sexual deviance and obsession with lust...which is seperate from homosexuality.
And yes, I agree with you. I think it WILL be compromised in the name of freedom, and the Christian church will be a little shaken.

ok, i'm just going to respond to your first paragraph. christians don't think the bible "frowns" upon homosexuality. the bible clearly states that "homosexuality is an abomination" and "women shall not lie with women, as men shall not lie with men". Sodom and Gomorra (sp.) were not soley destructed due to homosexuality, as you charged. there were many crimes against children and animals. homosexuality, as i'm sure you're aware, is very different from child molesting and beastiality.

I'm 17 and a Christian and I belive in God and Jesus, but I can't believe that God, who loves everyone, is against people being gay! I don't see anything wrong if that's they're feelings! I mean gay people can be in a lot healthier relationships than straight people who have one night stands and abuse, not just marriage nowadays!
