When i first got my photoshop i went to pegaweb.com
and they are really good
they have all sorts of tutorials
also try absolutetutorials.com
they have a lot of text effects tutorials

just use google to find some starting tutorials.
It takes a few hours to really learn what you're doing, but after that it's simple to maneuver.
