Im abt to move in w/ my BF, but I've been thinking: My BF paid all of his rent when he moved in. so he's good all the way until the lease is up. when I move in, he says I can just give him half of the rent every month.
Since he's my BF, and one of the reasons I'm moving in with him is to get financially stable, should he still ask me to pay half of the rent when it's already paid for? Or should he look out for me since I'm his GF and help me to get up on my feet?

another note: he is benefitting BIG TIME from me moving in: he does not have a washer and dryer but I will be moving mine in, I cook, clean, and I have 10 X more furniture than he does.

What do ya'll think?

what planet are you from. He is to pay all of the rent and help you out! Half is selffishness on his part and cheap! He is getting sex whenever he wants it, you cook, clean, do landuary and shop! How much would he have to pay someone else! You letting him get a free rider or what! Be smart ... not used!

I was young and not smart and paid my boyfriend half the rent every month. Then I had an older boyfriend who paid all of MY rent and I realized, if I am sleeping with a guy he had better be paying ALL the rent.
Now I only want a guy who pays for all the rent and doesn't not want me to pay for anything. These are the nice guys. Anything else and he is just USING you.

The only way you should pay half is if that includes all utilities, then it sounds fair. Next you should talk to him about sharing the workload of houshold chores and splitting the food bill. Next if you are moving all that furniture in then make it clear that if you go it goes with you.

Its important that the relationship is fair. That means you should pay some rent, but also that he should cook and clean etc. The furniture and appliances should not be factored into the equation. Don't be petty but be fair.

I don't think it's right of him to ask you to pay for it. You need his help and you're helping him by benefiting him with your furniture and your cooking and cleaning. It sounds to me like things are fair without you paying anything.

This is something you need to personally talk to him about.

Maybe you're not ready to live together yet, you have some differences you need to work out.

Why would he pay all his rent when he moved in? It's usually first month, last month, and security deposit. Then payment each month thereafter. You should know about such things. And if you're gonna be room mates, perhaps bills should be split. PLEASE decide ALL these things b4 moving in. Or there will be serious problems, and you'll probably wind up in small claims court! ;(

he shouldnt push you to pay half the rent, but dont be mad at him unless hes pushing too hard. It may just be his way of.. protecting himself. Like if you two broke up. That rent money is more than likely going to utilities too. but still, be careful, he may be using you

i in my view does no longer ask my female friend to pay 0.5 of the employ if it really is already paid in strengthen. even with the undeniable fact that, if I moved in with my female friend, and he or she advised me in strengthen that she needed me to pay 0.5 the employ, then i does no longer have a difficulty with it. only because you're his female friend doesn't advise you need to get a free vacation. may you sense an identical way in case you've been only his perfect bud rooming with him?
