Nicotine withdrawal is not pleasant. You will be short tempered for a few days and maybe have chest pains. Do yourself a favor and get a supply of hard candy or carrot sticks.
I quit smoking last year, my anniversary is Dec 17 =O) I smoked about 20 cigs a day. I quit cold turkey after 16 years.
I won't lie to you, quitting smoking is one of the hardest things that I have ever done. Its something that you will have to do on a day to day basis, even a craving to craving basis, until its out of your system. Don't bother with the nicotine patches, it only make you suffer longer.

They say that it takes 5 whole years for your lungs to get back to normal, the way they were before a person started smoking. So it will be a while before you feel completely normal again. The side affects that you will have in the meantime are moodiness, anxiety, nervousness, and tobacco cravings. But honestly, only having those symptoms for a few weeks or even a month is worth quitting. I watched someone slowly die from smoking and it is not pretty, let me tell you. And yeah its true, we all die sooner or later, might as well enjoy it, but you wont be enjoying your last years of life having to tote a respirator around with you. I know, its more of an answer than you asked for, but its the truth and I would like you to enjoy the rest of your life rather than suffer in your later years!
Good luck =)

For about 3 weeks, you'll be very short tempered. Also, at the times you normally smoke a cigarette, you'll find yourself wanting one twice as badly as you normally would. If you have 'one last cig' before you go to bed, you'll have trouble sleeping for the first week or two. Expect some insomnia, and keep a 'plan b' on hand for when the cravings hit--I would bang my fist on my desk. ^_^ Remember why you're doing it, and keep in mind that the physical addiction is easy to get over; that takes about a week. The psychological addiction is harder. Avoid bars and social situations you relate with smoking until you can trust yourself to stay on the wagon.

Don't jump into zero cigarettes right away for this might cause a major complication in your system given the change. Try making it 4 cigars/sticks a day for a week. After that, you can make it 2 sticks a day for 2 weeks until you can live without it...

Yes you will. You have been breathing in smoke and collecting it on your lungs. It has to come out. This process will take energy to happen. Cleansing often maked you feel weak. Drink lots of water. Rest for a couple of days if you have time. The harsh chemicals get stuck in the lungs and liver. This is going to take time, but there is hope.

Yeah when I quit the side effects I experienced were; whiter teeth, food tasted better, my headaches stopped, and I didn't get winded climbing a flight of stairs. Good luck and stick to it even though it's tough!

You will probably get a burst of energy. That is usually what happens to me. I love it because I feel so refreshed when I quit. You may be surprised to know how fast your body begins to heal from the negative effects of cigarettes. Good luck to you!!!
