Why do doctors perscribe people who have cancer and people who have other diseases? I don't know how they get it , I'll just assume by the pharmacy. When they get their perscription , why is actual marijuana? The same marijuana the drug cartels deal with?

Why can't they find out the exact chemicals in it and form it into a pill? By doing this not as many , teenagers will be getting high.

Many teenagers buy and sell , Perscribed marijuana is legal in California. It should be illegal or it should atleast be formed into a pill.

In the states that allow it, the doctors do not "prescribe" it because there is no place that is legal to buy it under Federal law. Instead, they "recomend" it and it is up to the patient to find some place to buy it. In places like California there are compassion clubs where patients can go to buy it. The clubs are legal under state law, but not under Federal law.

There is a pill that contains the active ingredient. It is called Marinol. There are several problems with the pill:

1) It costs about fifteen dollars a pill. Lots of people can't afford it on a regular basis.

2) Many users report that it is harder to judge a proper dose and that the pilll causes a "debilitating" high. They prefer to smoke it because it is easier to take a light puff and then wait a few minutes to see if they got the desired amount. With the pill, they have to take it and wait a half hour or more to see the effects.

3) Pills are not any good if you have nausea and immediately throw them up. Inhaled medicines are better for nausea.

4) The relief from smoking marijuana is immediate. The relief from the pill takes a half hour.

5) Most patients report that the pill doesn't treat their symptoms as well. This is because there are other medicinal compounds in natural marijuana.

If you think marijuana should be illegal then you simply don't know the subject. For starters, read the history of the marijuana laws at http://druglibrary.org/schaffer/History/whiteb1.htm The laws were the worst kind of ignorant nonsense. There never was a good reason for the laws in the first place.

Then you need to take a look at the Major Studies of Drugs and Drug Policy at http://druglibrary.org/schaffer Every major study in history has said that the marijuana laws do more harm than good. They all said it should be legal. The evidence is overwhelming.

They do have THC in pill form. The prescribed marijuana is not the same as street sold marijuana which is grown and processed in Government labs. Teenagers will always find a way of getting high regardless if the marijuana is available or not.

There's is a THC pill. It's not popular because there are better medications. It is considered a third line medication.
Anyway, any excuse for "medical" marijuana will soon go away because an inhaled form of THC is in clinical trials. This drug won't have any of the nasty carcinogens associated with regular marijuana.
