im 21 years old and for the past few years i have really been getting into baking for the holidays. my mom used to do a lot of baking, but i have added a few of my favorites that i make myself. anyway, i was wondering if anyone had any good cookies that are pretty simple to make that would be cute for the holiday.

heres what i usually bake for the holidays:

pizelles (anise italian cookie)
buckeyes
choc. chip cookies
fudge

Double Chocolate Chip Cookies with Peppermint
INGREDIENTS
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup unsalted butter
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
2 large eggs
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup bittersweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup coarsely chopped soft peppermint candy
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and salt. In a large bowl, stir together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until creamy and smooth. Stir in vanilla; then stir in eggs one at a time, stirring until the mixture is creamy and well incorporated. Gradually stir in the flour, 1/2 cup at a time, mixing well between each addition. Stir in the semi-sweet chips, then the bittersweet chips. Mix in the peppermint candy, stirring until evenly distributed. Drop by spoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets.
Bake in a preheated oven for 9 to 11 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove from oven; allow cookies to cool momentarily on the sheets before removing them to wire racks to cool completely

Mom's Ginger Snaps
INGREDIENTS
1 cup packed brown sugar
3/4 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup molasses
1 egg
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/3 cup white sugar for decoration
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
In a large bowl, mix together the brown sugar, oil, molasses, and egg. Combine the flour, baking soda, salt, cloves, cinnamon, and ginger; stir into the molasses mixture. Roll dough into 1 1/4 inch balls. Roll each ball in white sugar before placing 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake for 10 to 12 minutes in preheated oven, or until center is firm. Cool on wire racks

Use green food coloring to make green rice krispy treats put it in a jello mold or bundt pan with red hots or candy cane pieces in the bottom of pan/mold and when cooled take out of pan and flip over and you have a wreath!! I make several of these every Christmas!

do a biscotti, they are easy and you can get a recipe anywhere. If you cant email me and I will give you one. They are great,especialy after dinner with tea or coffee
