I've done lots of research into paganism being in christianity. Most of my research its from books between 200 and 500 years old or books referenceing them. I've read a lot about an ancient book called, "The Mysteries" or The Babylonian Mysteries". This was the so called bible or top book for ancient pagans before christs time and only the pagan priests had access to it. Eventually the ancient pagans become what is known today as Catholics. I'm trying to find this book, if its ever been found and translated. It would be amazing seeing what they believed and did and comparing it with whats done today. If anybody knows where to find any info on it let me know.

It's hard to say what works exactly were lost, because I don't believe there was a record kept of what was in the library at Alexandria. As far as the inquistion, there probably weren't as many books lost then, as people were able to hide things. I had a professor in college speculate oncce the amount of information that was lost. But no ideas about what actually was lost.

Emperor Constantine who was a Pagan decided for political reasons to declare Christianity the religion of his Kingdom. He organized the Niacin Council and they determined the contents of the Bible as well as the doctrine of the church. This was the foundation of the Catholic Church. The authority of the Pope comes from the apostle Paul. If there was any paganism incorporated into the Catholic Church it would have to have been at this point. The council considered many manuscripts and rejected many that were and are considered Holy writ. I seriously doubt that pagan manuscripts were considered at all.

I don't know the answer, but remember this.

Documents written 500 years ago are irrelevant to Christ's time. What pissed me off was that the Da Vince Code (I love the book by the way) was based on a painting about Christianity painted 1500 AFTER CHRIST! That's retarded. That's like me drawing a picture of Jesus hanging out with Buddha and they take it as the most ridiculous fact 500 years from now.

You might be referring to a book by B.B. Warfield [Benjamin Breckenridge Warfield -- 1851-1921]

It wouldn't be an ancient book, but a book in which Dr. Warfield wrote about ancient Babylon etc.

Hey, I'm Catholic and I know the difference between paganism and Christianity, and no stupid book is going to tell you the condition of my soul! And btw, your ancestors were once Catholic.

They say all kinds of knowledge was destroyed when they burned the
Library in Alexandria. The Vatican is supposed to have a vast Library
of knowledge it keeps from us from our own "protection".
