The purpose of our housecat is to get fur everywhere you do not want it. To jump on you and lay down when you are wearing all white or all black and getting ready to leave, and a heck of a footwarmer at night, lol.

I don't understand the purpose of an outside cat or dog. I hate seeing some people get a pet and then leave it outside in a dog house (or leaving a cat to wander around). What's the point of having a pet for companionship if you don't want it in your house?

And, going further, what's the point of having a dog or a cat you don't let up on your bed? My sister puts her dog in this tiny little space under her bathroom counter at night to sleep. And her dog itself is tiny, it's not like it would take up space sleeping with her in the bed. How sad. They like companionship, they're pack animals. :(

To provide company and friendship. Sometimes they hunt mice or bugs like crickets if you have them. Cats seem to have distinct personalities and sometimes seem aloof, but this is good because if you have to be out of the house for work they will survive, when a dog would tear up the house. As time goes on you begin to wonder who's house/apartment it is, sometimes it seems like the cat lets you stay with it. That is why cats are fun.

A house cat is a beautiful, loving creature. Some people (like myself) find cats to be quite beautiful and interesting. Cats will also love you unconditionally. So the purpose of a housecat is to bring love, emotional stability and compassion to its owner. The purpose of a human is to take in at least one of these beautiful creatures, so that they will not be killed needlessly at the pound, or in the wild.

Pets don't have a purpose. They are a part of your family and your question is like asking what is the purpose of a brother or sister. My cat is a part of my family. I talk to him and play with him and he gives me love and makes me smile and laugh out loud with the things he does. He makes my heart lighter and my kids love feeding him and even my manly man of a husband gets this sweet voice when he talks to our cat. I guess his purpose is to make our lives better.

Warlok said it well. They are amazing creatures. They are loving, clever, intelligent, communicative, and comforting. The provide our home with lots of laughter when they decide to be silly cats. When life isn't going your way, they have a way of knowing you need a cuddle for comfort. The ask little and give so much. I don't think a home is complete without at least two cats. Cats do better in pairs.

The purpose of my house cat is to give me love and warmth, provide company to me when I'm lonely, make me laugh when she's high on catnip, and cuddle up next to me while I'm sleeping.

The purpose is to have something to pet and love and if you need it..to eat your mice. You can also have someone to talk to. Even if they dont seem to be listening to you they are. I wish I could have a pet in my apartment. I just have fish. Even though i love them too...it is not the same.
