It's sometimes both sad and ironic too. You work your whole life to earn a living and provide a good life for your loved ones. But then they die and leave you with all that money, not knowing who to spend it for and with anymore. It's so ironic.
Then there's the sad part. When your spouse dies and leaves you insurance money, the first person the police might suspect of having something to do with his or her death is you. Guess that's just how it is sometimes.

Yes, my husband and I both have life insurance. We don't see it as a waiting game, we see it as making the other secure financially should one of us die prematurely. We could survive without the money that would be paid, but neither one of us wants our kids to lose a parent and then have the other one "have" to work. You never know how your family will deal with a loss and to have the option of working less or not at all while you go through the grieving process gives me peace of mind should the worst happen. I also think that it helps lessen the burden of the funeral and any final expenses. And yes, I agree... I would still be sad even though I had a whole lot of money.

You should both have life insurance. If you have kids you need it even more. My husband and I don't have kids but both have three life insurance policies. I want to make sure that if something happens to either one of us that the surviving spouse does not have to worry about bills, can take time off work to grieve and that there will be money for final expenses, hospital bills, etc.
If you have kids, wouldn't it be nice to have a college fund set up for them if something happened to you or your spouse.
It isn't a waiting game it is just a part of life. Making sure you and your spouse are taken care of shows that you love the person and are responsible. You would be amazed at the number of people that say they don't need life insurance because they will be dead. They obvioulsy don't care about their kids or spouse.

Absolutely.....have to make sure our kids are taken care of if something happens to both of us, or make sure that the other spouse and kids is taken care of if something happens to one of us.
