It depends. The bottom part of your ear lobe does not hurt as much as the top part. That is because the top part is bone, while the bottom is fat. I have 3 piercings in my bottom left, 2 in my bottom right, and 2 in my top left. Personally, I thought that my third bottom left piercing hurt more than my second top piercing (which was higher than the first). I also have ahd my belly button pierced and it did not hurt at all. It depends on how well you take needles.

Of course it hurts, you're sticking something through your body. If you can take getting pinched really hard than you can get your ear pierced, cartilage or lobe neither one are end of the world type of pain just a little discomfort.
If you're planning on getting anything pierced then please go to a sterile professional body piercer. Do NOT get it shot through with a piercing gun, they can not be sterilized, they force a blunt earring through the ear ripping the tissue causing trauma resulting in a longer healing time and more chance of infection, plus they attach the backing too tight to allow proper drainage and healing.
A professional will use only a single use sterilized medical grade hollow needle, probably 18gauge, then they will put in a sterilized piece of body jewelry, either a CBR (hoop with a ball closure) or a labret (post type with flat backing and removable ball or cone). They will give you healing information and answer any questions you have regarding the piercing.

If you do it yourself it tend to hurt more than if you had someone else do it. Piercing guns tend to hurt more than having a professional piercer do it. They also tend to have more complications for some people (not all though)
All piercings hurt, but depending on location that pain will vary. Ear lobes are a breeze, just take deep breaths. Just keep it clean, use high quality jewelry and avoid infections and you'll be fine.

I just got a second hole in both ears. It hurt more than I thought it would. My husband said I acted like a real baby. But the "real" baby, my three month old granddaugher, got her ears pierced at the same time and cried for less than 15 seconds. Was it worth it? Yes, we both look real cute. Most important is keeping the piercing clean. So, wipe with a peroxide soaked cotton ball twice each day.

Not really. It's a bit of a misperception which people have that having your ear pierced hurts. I think the reason people think it hurts so much is because of the aweful noise the gun makes given that it's so close to the ear.

If it's a regular ear piercing...no it doesn't. Healing can be tender, but the piercing is no more than a very small, quick pinch.

If you're asking about your earlobe, no. It's just a quick pinch if you get it done with a regular piercing gun...If you use a needle it actually hurts less, as it's sharper then a piercing gun. The sharper, the smoother it will go.

Not really. It might be tender for a couple of days, but its really no big deal. If you're worried or nervous though, you can get a product a your local drug store. Its a cream that you rub into the surface of your skin and numbs it. I can't remember the name of it, but it works! Ask the pharmacist, he/she will know. My 2 month old niece just got hers done and that's what my sister used. She didn't feel a thing! Good luck!
