An Israelite is a member of the Twelve Tribes of Israel, descended from the twelve sons of the Biblical patriarch Jacob who was renamed Israel by God in the book of Genesis, 32:28. The Israelites were a group of Hebrews, as described in the Hebrew Bible. There are modern historical debates about the origins of the Hebrews/Israelites.

Genesis is the first book that mentions the tribes of Israel (that is, the children of Jacob). But the entire Bible throughout speaks a lot about the family of Israel, God's covenant people. All throughout the Old Testament the prophets wrote about the promises that God made to Israel. And the New Testament, too, talks about the Israel lineage of various people associated with Jesus Christ, for example. God has never stopped trying to gather and reclaim His ancient covenant people Israel. That work continues today.

He had 4 wives, Rachel, Leah, Zilpah, and Bilhah.
Reuben, Levi, Simeon, Judah, Isaachar, Zebulun, Naphtali, Benjamin, Joseph, Gad, Asher, and Dan.
