I'm getting a GL2 soon, and although the HDR-FX1 probably has better image quality, there's a reason why I chose it. The GL2 is cheaper than the FX1. For right now, it's good enough of a camera for me, and I can use the extra money to buy accessories such as mics, lenses, filters, etc. The HDR-FX1 beats the GL2, but the newer Canon HD cameras such as the XH- A1 and G1 are even better than the FX1. Since the GL2 is my starting camera, I'm planning to use it for a while, then upgrade later so I get a very decent HD cam later. If you start out with a more expensive camera, it will give you better picture quality, but less money for other accessories, and probably will be harder to upgrade than a cheaper camera. So to answer your question: which one give more "professional" picture quality: FX1. But making a good film (or video) depends on more than just picture quality. So that's why I'm saving more money to get other accessories, instead of just a good camera. I don't know whether your in the same boat as me, but think about what I said, and if it works for you, then get the GL2. If it doesn't, get the FX1. Either way, your not going to be making a bad decision. Hope this helps!

BTW, The Keeper, heard of the XL-H1?

The Sony HDR-FX1 is a superior camera to the gl2. Not to bash the gl2, but it is four years old and was not really even considered "professional quality" at that time. Independent film makers never looked to the gl2 to make videos. The HDR is newer, has HiDef, and can shoot in 16:9. Definitely go for the Sony!

Canon's are impressive cameras in the SLR or DSLR range (I have one), but the Sony Cybershot is a damned impressive point and shoot. Given my experiences with Canon point and shoots (I HAD a Powershot A550), I would take the Sony Cybershot. And I have always been a Canon fan.
