I've had a 6 month old cat at home for about a month, who adjusted very well, and I wanted him to have a play-mate, so I brang home a 4 year old. The 4 year old lived with other cats, so he didn't seem to mind, but my kitten is PISSED. The older cat's been here for 2 days, very sweet mellow cat, but hasn't eaten or come out of hiding. I know he's scared but I need him to eat, drink & poop! What's the deal and how do I get him to eat? Is catnip an idea? Get him nice and loose!?

Did you keep the new cat in a separate place to the resident cat and let the resident get used to the idea, or did you just let the 4 year old loose with the youngster?
The idea to introduce a new cat is for the new one to be kept in a separate room while the established one has free run and can sniff at the new one under a door. The resident has all its own places and when you introduce them - after a few days - it should be in neutral territory.
Each cat must have its own place, feed bowl and litter tray away from the other.
In time, they may decide to share bowls and trays and sleeping space. Some do and others dont.

Hello; the cat is in a new invirment ,mine did the same thing ,it will start eating ,mine did not eat for almost a week ,then she accepted the new invirment then started eating, now she is very contempt, some cats like lots of loving from their owner ,dont worry it will be ok .just give it lots of loving when it does come out and then take it to where its food is and see if it will eat ,you have to be patient.

maybe he does not want to be a parent.the kitten may be a tough guy behind your back and does not let him out. i caught this going on in my own home.try feeding him whereever he wants to live for now and dont try to force the kitten to be nice,he was there first.heating the cats soft food helpstoo.but really dont scold the little until it looks hopeless,i tamed a wild viscious female who tortured us all, when i scolded her for bullying our BIG male she beat him up worse.she won the crown, his spirits are still downand i have the most loyal cat ever .we are happy with the way it turned out,but if that cat dont want to share you he wont. and he could care if the other one starves.

Maybe you could keep him separated in another room with his food & litter box for a while until he feels more comfortable. Some cats take longer than others to feel at home.
