I am not having alot of money to spend on other people besides my husband and my son and i am needing to find something to buy my mother-in-law, father-in-law and their youngest son (husband's brother)

I was thinking of getting some sort of basket and putting candy and fruit in it so do you think that would be good enough for them?
Would you like some to buy you fruit, nuts and candy for christmas? Would you apprciate it?

I am just wondering cause i need a 3in 1 gift and i think that would be alright...what do you think?

Thanks

You are on to something- what I do for families is a bowl (large- from walmart or somewhere like that) I put in microwave popcorn, candy like M&Ms or skittles, and I get a giftcard for Blockbuster or Hollywood video. A gift for the whole family for around $25. It is thoughtful and promotes family time. Good luck and Merry Christmas!

I can tell you what I did about two years ago for my brother.

I too had no money and being a single mom I barely have money to buy the gifts for family, let alone my son.

My brother who has been ther throught thick and thin and who is and angel too everyone really deserved something uniqe and special.

I sat at the computer one night and just typed evrything that I wanted to give him, tell him how much he ment to me, my son and everyone he has helped.

It turned out in the end to be a gift from the heart, that even made my hard core sister cry.. It was a gift that money could not buy, yet something that will be cherrished forever and a gift that was the most precious and meaningful.

Today that letter is in a double side by side frame and out for eveyone to read.

My brother said it was the best gift anyone has ever given and he had ever received.
It was done with love,truth,caring,compassion.

My family thought I took it from a book. But it did not. It came from my heart. Sometimes those are the gifts that are the best and never forgtten. try it. You may surprise yourself at what a beautiful gift you can create.

Good luck and I hope if you accomplish the gift, you will be just as proud and the receiver.

Remember Christmas is about giving to those we love . NOT how much the gift cost.
Sometimes something so simple and old fashion is what we all need once in while.

This gift cost nothing.. The basket idea I would appreciate and yes love it. Give what you can and do what you can. If you feel good about the gift and comfortable, then you shoud not worry about what others think or feel. Otherwise we all will be trying to keep up with the Jones's

Please let me know how everything turns out and if I can be of any assistance.
Kathy

Personally I think that is a great ideal. I would love to have something like that for Christmas. But I would go one step further with it. Make an assortment of cookies and candy for the basket as well. That would set it off even better. I mean you can still put some fruit and nuts in it, but put the home made cookies and candy it in as well. If you need some good recipes for that let me know cause I have a few. As a matter of fact, I make cookies and candy every year for Christmas gifts instead of buying gifts. And I also make a mini loaf of pumpkin bread every year as I have some family members that love the ones that I make. So if you need any recipes, let me know.

I think it would be wonderful. Just add a few small personal touches to make it interesting. Put in a few homemade cookies or candies with the fruit, maybe buy a christmas ornament or two for decoration. If you want to have a small something for them to enjoy besides food, perhaps a gift card that they all can enjoy, or some movie gift certificates. As people have said, its the thought that counts. So put some thought in it. Make it something unique that they'll enjoy.

You could most definitely get the basket OR if you wanted some other ideas I thought of a few:

1. Movie tickets/passes
2. Restaurant gift card
3. Blockbuster gift card

I am the type of receiver that likes to get things I can use. I don't know the people you speak of so maybe your gift would be great. Think about it. And have fun with it :)

Instead of buying fruit and candy, why don't you make some cookies and candy? Homemade gifts are always better, plus you get to put some of your own time and energy into it. I would appreciate it even more than any store-bought gift, knowing it came from the heart!

Why not take it a step further and make them candy cane cup cakes. They are easy to make and look very impressive. Just a white cake mix, candy canes, and white frosting. Make the white cake mix and break up a few candy canes in the mix. Cook the mix according to directions. Make sure you put the batter in silver cup cake papers. When the cup cakes cool then add a few sprinkles of candy canes in the frosting. Frost the cup cakes and put small candy canes layed ontop the cup cakes. They look and taste like Christmas. And don't take alot time to make and your son can help you make them too. He will love it. Put them in a basket with a candy cane cloth napkin. And red bow. Merry Christmas!

I LOVE those gifts!! My brother-in-law (who works for the government and is in no way hurting for money) always sends us gift baskets like that at Christmas as a secondary gift and we always look forward to it. Those are great!

Franciscan priests surely could afford to give you an X Box 360. If only they didn't have the Vow of Poverty. Kindly save up, u still got time before Christmas. Good luck !

Yes choose wisely in particular with each persons like their favourite fruit, sweets, homemade cookies, jams etc.

I would certainly love a homemade xmas cake that is the less richer type. I dont mind a container full of homemade cookies.

Happy Xmas Season.
