While there is a lot of development going on, there is a lot of land that is being kept as farmland. The amount of land the U.S. has as farmland has the capability to produce enough food for the entire world if need be, and that's just the U.S. alone. So, yes, there will be large population growth in the future, but we should be able to feed everybody if need be for a long time.
Sometime in the distant future, though, there will be a point where the amount of humans is too great for the amount of food available. This is the carrying capacity of the world, meaning that the world can only support that certain amount of people. When we hit it the population growth will start to decline and eventually will level out.
The question, as you asked, is when. Nobody really knows that for certain. Some believe that we have already reached the carrying capacity for the environment. However, the mainstream idea is that we haven't quite gotten there yet and are getting closer with every day. Rest assured, though, there will still be plenty of food to go around for awhile yet.

There will never be a lack of food produced to feed the whole planet. The reason there are starving people in the world is because of money and politics. The amount of food Americans throw away each year could feed an entire nation.

Never. Human ingenuity will circumvent all obstacles in sustaining the species. There will never be such situation that there will not be enough food for the people. The available land is big in comparison to requirement, there will never be land scarcity for growing food. Again humans are omnivorous, the only living beings that eat any thing every thing available in air, land and sea.

I say we are working on that now, I hate that we cut down trees for nothing, to build stuff that doesnt need to be built. Recycle the old buildings, reuse old things before you take it all away. Im not a tree hugger, Im just trying to look out for my childrens future.

Aren't we at this stage now? Thousands of people die each day due to lack of food..
Some say this is simply due to lack of distribution, I say it is lack of money.
The real problem however is going to be lack of water.. We still pollute our clean water sources and this I think is pretty equal between industrialized and non-industrialized nations. The industrialized nations pollute with their toxic waste and non-industrialized pollute with their personal waste.
