For those of you who say they sometimes attack and kill people...
1) That's the owner's fault
2) Humans are the number one killer of humans... with all the wars, all the bombing going on everywhere, all the violence, murders, drugs... and the list goes on.
Human are the most destructive animal to ever set foot on this earth... and yet we haven't been exterminated...
Think about it.

ALL the pit bulls in California...how would they ever go about capturing them or even knowing where they are? That seems absurd...just make strong laws such as leashes and muzzles...it is really bad the the demented are the biggest pit bull owners and they think it is cool to mistreat them and teach them to attack.

I doubt it by way of the undeniable fact that must be thoroughly inhumane! Pitbulls must be elementary to strive against and function surprising lashes out of rage and violence yet they get that attractiveness because they're the significant dogs educated for dogs fights. Their vendors inspire the battling and on the grounds that of this CA believes that. I desperately wish that CA fails at exterminating them. The pitbulls are only dogs. this is not their fault that they are being educated to strive against. i experience that in the journey that they bred each and each and every of the pitbulls with a very pleasant dogs or maybe as there replaced into in elementary words that next geration left, there ought to now not be any finished breed pitbulls, so there must be a lot less violence interior the dogs.

Yeh 'cause I've met some gentle, sweet pits. I do think that ALL dogs over a certain size (the kind that can actually kill someone if they went nuts) should be muzzled whenever they are outside. They have some harmless muzzles out these days and if putting a muzzle on a dog will make it so the dog cannot kill someone (should he get out of the yard or decide he doesn't like a person), it is a better price to have to pay then having all pitbulls put down.

Extermination of any species is an abomination and flat out wrong. I own two of these wonderful, loyal, loving animals and I would never let anything happen to them They are the loves of my life. I am a responsible owner who believes APBTs should not be punished for the wrongdoing of PEOPLE! If any breed of dog is mean, it is the OWNER'S FAULT!!! This poor breed has been unfairly demonized because of what human beings have done to it. Shame on a government in any city, state, county or country that would be so ignorant as to ban a breed of dog. That is putting a band aid on a much bigger problem... bad PEOPLE! I think there should be stricter legislation for people to take responsibility for their animals and harsher penalties for people who abuse or exploit any dog of any breed.

Absolutely! Maybe they should exterminate the humans that made those particular dogs that mean! I hate that a whole breed gets a bad rap because a few loosers thought they could be tough guy and force a sweet animal to be violent! What is wrong with the government in ca that they are actually this stupid to exterminate a whole breed!

animals are like children they can be taught love and hate just the same and we seem to forget that ,loving is harder to do than hating maybe that's why there is so much hate in this world. It just comes easier , if we found that political leaders were like pit bulls would they want to kill them as well. Everything has a place in this world of ours and who's to say what belongs and what doesn't are We saying we know better than the Creator that put us all (animal, human, plant, etc.) here. ARE WE GODS NOW? There is only 1 God Almighty may he take pity on those who suffer from others cruelty and I pray that he will punish those that look down upon life as being insignificant.

Of course its wrong, not only because its the owners, not the dogs who are to fault, but "pitbull" isn't even a breed. Lawmakers have a hard time coming up with a definite answer as to what a "pitbull" is. A pitbull is a TYPE of dog, not a breed, generally described as being of medium build, with shorthair and a stocky appearance, this can describe anything from actual "bully" breeds, like American Pitbull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, American Bulldog, English Bulldog, White Bull Terrier, Colored Bull Terrier, even poorly bred labs can pass as the all-dreaded "pitbull", not to mention *most* of the mixes you see around pretty much fit the description of being medium build with shorthair. Its just rediculous.

There are police forces for animals in America. It is wrong that pit bulls are put to sleep but they are for a purpose. Of course if you find a pit bull which is friendly, it's ok. But numerous owners in new york and california raise pit bulls to BE killers. Which obviously is wrong. They put the owners in jail but their dogs have to be put to sleep as much as I hate it. There's no way rehabilitating a dog like that anymore even if it isn't their fault they're a threat to people and animals as well. I'm a dog lover myself and am all out against maltreatment of animals. Yes, they know it's the owners fault but what the dog has become is irreversible.

Um, there's no such proposed legislation. My local shelter is currently housing a number of pitbulls and I live in Los Angeles.
You can't blame the dog for having bad owners. I know a lot of pitbull owners that should be exterminated. Those that breed their dogs to fight and be vicious and bring a bad rep. to the rest of the Saffies.
