I have a basement apartment, It's an open finished space without a bedroom. It's too costly to put up a wall to create a bedroom. How do I create another room without putting up a wall? How do I separate this space?

Buy a couple of cheap 6 shelf bookcases and leave the backs off when you assemble them. Position them to create 'walls' then fill the shelves with plants (real and/or artificial) knickknacks, vases, books, anything that suits your taste but partially obscures the view to your bed. Maybe try an east Indian or Oriental theme and you could also string a bead or bamboo curtain between them extending the length of your 'wall'.

How about a temporary wall like in a Japanese house? It has a lightweight framework with a sheer covering. There are all sorts of temporary walls about six feet high that you can put up.

I saw a show about this once on HGTV. I think there was one light wall with a fabric covering, or a tall dresser against a couch. I can't remember exactly. It looked really nice though, maybe you could check there website. Also, Better Homes and Gardens has an extensive website that you can search.

The cheapest way is probably tapestries. Cheap ones are 8 feet (I think small ones are 8'x10', big ones 8'x15') Tack one side to the ceiling and the other to something like a broom handle. Then make cinder block/plank shelving to stop people from walking into it. It's not going to completely seperate the space-that needs a door-but it'll give you some provace for your bedroom.

make a partition between the spaces using window frames hung from the ceiling on wire. or curtains, or a folding screen, or a wall of lightweight storage cubes in your choice of color, or a huge piece of netting.

You can use bricks or see thru tiles to create a partition. Also, try the three fold separators.
