I have a basement apartment and the "living room" is just a few feet away from the "bedroom. I dont have a wall that separates the two rooms, It's a finished open basement painted blue with wood trims and doors. How can I paint the walls with the illusion that the two are separated?

How about using a darker and lighter shade of the same color, thus preserving the feeling of a unified "open space" while defining separate functioning areas? If you're able to hang things from the ceiling, perhaps some sort of open-weave curtain or even beaded curtains (a la 70s) could create the illusion of a room divider. Or how about a bamboo folding screen placed between the two areas? Good luck!
