Go to your nearest Social Services office, and go today. You can not imagine how much you have already been influenced by their cruel behavior...and all that ..that will turn into is You being abusive to your children. It's a syndrome...and they can't help it. They were probably both abused verbally too. If you are old enough you can go through Family Services and "divorce" your parents. With the least bit of abuse...also. Go to my 360 page and email me with what you find out...I want to know how old you are..etc...
Good luck sweetie...someone is out there for you.

You've been out of college six years, so you are an adult. Tell your parents you love them. Then tell them that from now on your conversations will only last as long as they are supportive and non-abusive. Say it and mean it. If you are on the phone and the abuse starts, simply say, "ok, that comment crosses the line, goodbye mom/dad," and HANG UP!
If you are in person, say the same and leave.
Eventually they may begin to watch what they say. If not, you may have to severe ties with them until they realize you mean business about not being verbally abused.
You are old enough to decide who and what you allow in your life. Do it.
Good luck.

Child abuse is child abuse whether it's physical, verbal, emotional or anything else. You can speak to child welfare services and tell them you are being abused. They will try to place you in a suitable foster home. Sadly though, I cannot see them allowing you to take your cats with you.
I hope all goes well for you in the future. Please do not be scared to ask for the help you need.
