A few months ago I dyed my hair brown and it turned green... why? I want to dye it again because the blond highlights keep coming back. I dont have money to get it done professionally so what color should I go with so that it wont turn green? Thank you!!

You probably used something like ashbrown, the ashes have green bases.
Using the fanciful rinses are a good suggestion, you apply these every time you shampoo, because they wash right out and there is no damage.
If you want something more permanent use the following:Go to Sally's Beauty Supply and buy Clariol Gray busters Lightest natural brown,a bottle of 20 volume creme developer, and a color applicator bottle to mix it in.
The Clariol gray busters have neutral bases, so there won't be any wierd colors to come up.Make sure to read front of bottle and base says neutral.
When you apply, cover with plastic cap, leave on 20 min., rinse, shampoo, and style.

Ok theres bad news to this. First all im a licensed cosmetologist for 17 years and you cant do a thing to fix it. The dyes you have been using have killed your hair and the money you spend on dye you should save for the salon.. It will keep turning green. just call a salon and ask for a free consultation. remember you get what you pay for. If someone tells you what to use on here and you do dont come back here and wine. Call some Salons and get prices but it cost you for its a color correction but itll be worth it

The only way it would turn green is if you dyed it green, or you went swimming with it. However; even then it rarely makes the hair green. I had my hair bleached out white and dyed purple while I was on the swim team, and it never turned green. Swimming (in chlorinated water, that is) can take the color out of your hair faster, though, if it's only semi-permanent hair dye.

you need to use a semi perm dye. the ash tones are the ones that turn the color green also chlorine in spas or pools, they also have a temp color you put in your hair when it is still wet called fanciful in a purple bottle its a toner comes in allot of shades, id consider that to find a good color without trashing your hair. good luck

I would call one of the hotlines on the side of the box or visit the website of the colour company you prefer...

They usually have good advice on colour choices and techniques

Avoid any thing that has Ash in the title, it will go green every time!

if you have city water, it may be the chlorine in your water. try to mix baking soda in your your shampoo to form a paste and leave it on for about 5 minutes then wash. it's worth a shot, since baking soda costs next to nothing. if your permanent color is fading anyways, you may opt for a more gentle wash (semi-permanent-level 2) instead-like herbal essences.

Do NOT use a color that says "ash" in the title...that'll turn you green every time.
