All sounds cards come with 3.5mm speaker out jack. Some sound cards come with 3.5mm and TOSLINK (digital) out connection.

If you only have a 3.5mm speaker-out jack, then you will need to purchase a 3.5mm to RCA stereo (red/white) cable from a local electronics shop like a Radio Shack. Then, you can connect it to your home theater system. Most home theater systems do not have a 3.5mm audio-in connector.

If you are one of the lucky ones and have a digital out connection on our card, then you can connect it to your surround sound system using the appropriate cable.

Find out what sound card you have and go to the manufacturer web site to see what connects it supports. Soundblaster Audigy and X-fi cards support digital-out. If you have Live, then you need to stick with 3.5 audio.
