There's a lot of Christian-bashing that goes on around here, and I'm wanting to know what you think of Christians and their belief system. What do you think the rest of the world thinks about them in general? What are they doing right or wrong to gain this kind of reputation? Do you have any ideas or suggestions for the Christian world that would make them more...uh...tolerable? Because I'm not really feelin' the love from most of the respondants I've seen around Y! Answers.

The scriptures you quoted were good, and not surprising. It's no secret that much of the world doesn't like Christians; we tell people to look in the mirror and face the fact that they are not perfect, and a lot of folks spend their entire lives running away from themselves. When people are confronted with the thing they fear the most (AKA themselves), their knee-jerk reaction is hostility.
I think what I'm really wanting to know is how much of this is just the world being resistant to the truth about the lack of peace within themselves...and how much of it is Christianity ignorantly and aggressively pushing itself on the rest of the world? How much of the world's hatred is the result of our obnoxiousness?

its not surprising and it should not upset a christian if worldy people and organizations do not like you

You have good and bad point...many people try to witness without showing love in their words. We are commanded to spread the word of christ...but how we do so is important also. we must be loving and compassionate without compromising the truth to win people over. We are to boldly declare the word of christ.

I'm sorry for the responses you have received that have not shown you the love of Jesus. We as Christians should be tempering our answers with compassion and love. However, the Word of God cannot be compromised. We should be telling the truth, but with God's guidance.

Unfortunately MUCH evil has been committed by the Catholic church and Christianity.
If Chriatianity answers their spiritual questions; I am happy for them. Christianity did NOT answer mine.

here is the world's (as a collective whole) attitude towards christianity.
o its a nice loving cheesy warm and cozy concept....but as long as you don'y REALLY ACTUALLY BELEIVE IN IT with all your heart. o and keeping it to yourself is a must of course...
which needless to say is wicked...

i dont mind christianity,
but the people who try to convert you, or say that 1 or another's beliefs are wrong..
i hate those kinds of people
